A long journey means long distances — and that calls for a bigger engine. But renting an Advanced Class bike for an extended trip can get expensive. The NC750L solves that problem.

Compared to the Adventure Class NC750X, the NC750L comes with a black-and-white (non-color) meter display, no grip heaters, and halogen rather than LED lights. But when it comes to actually getting you where you’re going over long distances, none of that will hold you back. The NC750L is built with just the essentials.

The “L” in NC750L stands for “License” — this bike was originally designed as a training bike for riders working toward their motorcycle license. Because of that, it does show some minor scuffs and fading on the body, though none of it affects performance. It’s a great fit for riders who aren’t bothered by a bit of wear and tear.

Its peak output is also limited for license-training purposes, but that’s not a problem in practice — low-end torque is strong, giving it more than enough power for Japan’s expressways. (Depending on your license class, an A2 license may also be able to ride this bike (27kw)— feel free to ask.)

Another standout feature is its large engine guard, something the NC750X doesn’t have. In the unlikely event of a tip-over, the guard takes the impact — no charge for any resulting scuffs. Between the rental cost and the potential repair costs in a worst-case scenario, everything is kept affordable — which is exactly what makes this our Economy Class.

Due to cost, it doesn’t come with side panniers — just a 41L top case. That said, it also has about 22L of front storage, so there’s still a decent amount of space to pack your gear.
