June Recap: Rain, Quiet Bookings, and a Surprising Trend
June in Japan means rain — and lots of it. The late-June rainy season left our booking calendar a little emptier than we’d hoped, which was a shame for anyone hoping to ride under clear skies.
But here’s the silver lining: while same-week bookings were slow, we were flooded with quotes, inquiries, and consultations for autumn and winter. People are already planning their big Japan motorcycle adventures months in advance — and one request came up far more than any other.
By a wide margin, the most popular inquiry this month was the one-way rental between Tokyo and Osaka (in both directions).
Why “Tokyo to Osaka” One-Way Rentals Are So Popular
A one-way motorcycle rental means you pick up your bike in one city and drop it off in another — no backtracking, no riding the same roads twice. For visitors exploring Japan, it’s the ultimate way to turn a rental into a true point-to-point road trip.
When riders say “Tokyo to Osaka”, that covers a few different scenarios for us:
- Tokyo side: Pick-up or drop-off at our office, located about an hour from central Tokyo
- Osaka side: Delivery or collection in the Osaka area — and in many cases, around Kyoto as well
In fact, we’ve had plenty of requests specifically for “Tokyo to Kyoto” or “Kyoto to Tokyo” routes. Kyoto’s temples, Osaka’s food scene, and the open roads in between make this one of the most rewarding rides in all of Japan.
How Much Does a Tokyo–Osaka One-Way Rental Cost?
Our one-way service to the Osaka area currently starts from ¥99,000 on top of the motorcycle rental fee. Pricing varies depending on the exact pick-up and drop-off locations.
Here’s the part that makes it a fantastic deal:
🚚 Our truck can carry up to 2 motorcycles at once.
That means if you’re traveling with a friend, your partner, or your spouse, the delivery cost is shared between two bikes. That works out to roughly ¥50,000 per person for a one-way trip all the way to Osaka or Kyoto — a genuinely great value for the convenience it offers.
So gather a riding buddy, a couple, or a duo of friends, and the economics suddenly look very attractive.
How Long Do Riders Usually Rent For?
For Tokyo–Osaka journeys, most riders book their motorcycle for somewhere between 4 and 10 days. Some go shorter, some go much longer — it really depends on your travel style, how many detours you want to make, and which bike suits you best.
There’s no single “right” way to do it. Some riders blast down the expressways; others wind through mountain passes, coastlines, and hot spring towns along the way. That freedom is exactly what makes a one-way rental so appealing.
Peak Season Alert: September & October
If you’re planning an autumn ride, book early. September and October are our busiest months by far, and the calendar fills up fast.
As of right now, our confirmed bookings alone mean we’ll be making at least four round trips to Osaka during September and October. 😅 It’s going to be a busy (but exciting) autumn!
Good News: 3 More Bikes Added to the Fleet — Introducing the NC750L
To make sure we can say “yes” to as many riders as possible during the busy season, we’ve added three more motorcycles to our fleet.
The new addition is the Honda NC750L — a model sold only in Japan.
Think of it as the value-friendly version of the NC750X we introduced previously. The “L” stands for License, because this bike was originally developed for driving schools. As a result, it’s a slightly simplified version of the standard NC750X:
- 🖥️ Monochrome display (the NC750X has a full-color screen)
- 🔥 No grip heaters
- 🛡️ Sturdy engine guards — great peace of mind in the rare event of a tip-over
NC750L Pricing — New “Economy Adventure Class”
We’ll cover the NC750L in detail in an upcoming blog post, but here’s a preview. It will launch as our new Economy Adventure Class, priced at:
- ¥15,000 for Day 1
- ¥13,000 per day from Day 2 onward
For riders planning longer rentals, this is an excellent way to keep costs down while still enjoying a comfortable, capable touring machine. Perfect for those multi-day Tokyo-to-Osaka adventures!
